Kipling Reviews and New Works in The Courting of Dinah Shadd
Andrew Lang praises Kipling’s vivid life sketches and potent tales while calling some stories merely mediocre and urging future growth toward novels. The piece notes strongest instances in The Incarnation of Krishna Mulvaney and Without Benefit of Clergy, and contrasts native and English themes with Mulvaney’s comical mystique and clerical pathos.
