Boston battled St Louis through a tense game with Pittenger faltering in the fifth as Willis debuted with a rough start but settled to shut out the McGraw hitters. New York September 13. Grand circuit at Empire City tracks features the free-for-all pace and a time trial by The Abbot. Anaconda sewed up the win in the final heat after a tight finish, with Prince Alert close behind. The Abbot set a champion gelding record in the mile against time, completing 2:04 with splits 32 3 4, 1:02 1 2, and 1:82 3 4, though trailing the world mark.
Worcester Sept 18 The Worcester Driving Park Company's races at Greendale drew the week's largest crowd.
