Mrs. William M. Stewart wife of Nevada's senior senator died after an Alameda California automobile collision with a telegraph pole. Passengers Henry Foote and Taylor escaped with minor injuries. Taylor swerved to avoid a vehicle but lost control. Mrs. Stewart died at a nearby sanitarium. Foote and Taylor are related to notable figures in New York and local legal circles.

Beaumont Fire Under Control After Oil Field Blaze

The Beaumont oil field fire has burned itself out with four wells and two tanks still burning. A large gusher remains a problem, but smaller wells are manageable as gas feeds the blaze. Brutal assault against Portuguese dory fisherman in Gloucester

In Gloucester on September 12, Manuel Begash assaulted J. S. Monize, a Portuguese dory fisherman, striking him with an oar, binding him in his boat, and leaving him adrift. Found Dead in Roxbury Woman at 50

Miss Rachel Noble colored aged 50 was found dead in her room at 1 Shawmut terrace Roxbury by a friend who called last night about 10 30. She had been ill for several days with hemorrhages and it is believed she suffered a final hemorrhage as blood flowed from her mouth and nostrils.

Cigarmakers Vote $500 Aid For Miners

At a meeting last night cigarmakers voted 3500 to support striking coal miners. A follow up motion levied $1 per member, with the union counting over 20 members, promising a sizable sum for the Strikers.
