Train murder leaves conductor dead after passenger refuses fare
In Nashville on September 12 William D Braill boarded a Louisville and Nashville train without a ticket. He refused to pay the extra fare. Conductor Lemon stopped the train at Bakers station and Braill was put off. Braill drew a revolver and shot Lemon through the head, killing him instantly. He fled to the woods and has not been captured.
