Six hundred fifty people were examined and only one juror secured for Mrs Fair's trial. The judge reprimanded Mr Cardinell for discussing the case with the juror. Bridge Tests in Bruesswick Maine on Androscoggin River
The new iron rail bridge at Bruesswick Maine over the Androscoggin River was tested with three locomotives weighing nine tons dead weight. At rest the deflection was under an inch and an eighth, mid span under fourteen sixteenths. When run at fifteen miles per hour deflection was under an inch and a quarter at the centre and fifteen sixteenths at the far point.

Hunter crew reports Bienville life boat found near Abaco
Capt. Wilson of the British brig Hunter arrived at Key West with news from August 29 near Abaco. A life boat, bottom up, is believed to be the missing Bienville boat. It shows matent hooks edged by a rod, marked 810, white hull with black gunwale, and a hastily written pencil note "A. Terror & Co." The boat measures about thirty feet.
