A master con man with a bogus certified check for 330,000 deceived A. B. Turner & Co. at 24 Milk street and obtained negotiable bonds. The same ruse allegedly robbed N. W. Harris & Co. and EB. H. Gay & Co. of 15,000 each in the past six years.
Across three robberies the same man forged signatures on a Worcester Trust Company certificate by Richard F. Parker and used the names William Busch and Norman H. Poor. Police and Pinkerton have hunted him for six years, nearly catching him in New York while peddling stolen government bonds from E. H. Gay & Co.
Peter Robinson fell from a 50 horsepower car during the Springfield Automobile Club hill climb on Wilbraham hill. He was left limp and unconscious with a broken right leg and multiple injuries as spectators narrowly avoided the out of control machine and stones flew from the overturned auto. Robinson had earlier posted a 1 mile climb in 9.4 seconds, a time soon surpassed by Charlie Basle by 14.5 seconds for the fastest of the day.
On the trip up the stiff grade to regain his laurels, Robinson was going faster. Continued on Page 9 Fourth Column.
