The Maine Historical Society committee and about forty guests sailed from Wiscasset aboard the United States steamer McCulloch at 10 AM. They reached Monhegan at 1 PM and studied the island, taking photographs of Westland Falls Pemaquid and the Camden Hills to settle disputed early regional history points. Tonight they stay in Boothbay and tomorrow visit New Harbor the site of an ancient Pemaquid settlement and Damariscane Island before returning to Wiscasset in the evening.

Murder Staged in Providence Sash Factory
The body of Geo H Favor, 38, sash maker, was found in a cellar at 23 Cove street with a crushed skull. Patrick Denahy, 24, an employee and suspect, vanished after the murder and the following day the safe was robbed with a key taken from Favor. Denahy’s wife lives in Manville.

The Mount Horeb Commandery of Knights Templar from Concord spent the day visiting the Islands with a clam bake. Returning, they were treated to a supper at the Falmouth Hotel by the Portland Commanders before being escorted to the Boston boat for a Thursday morning arrival in Boston.
