Bank scandal shadows Irish cause funding in Prudential Trust case
Frank Amaron, an attorney, waited to defend three men charged with robbery as a wallet theft disrupted court. Bank withdrawals surged amid propaganda against McNamee and the Irish Victory Fund, prompting examiners and a closing order at the Prudential Trust Company which held the fund. Officials said deposits totaled about 2 million with 200 thousand in capital, while the Irish fund had moved to New York and the bank faced solvency questions but was not linked to a Ponzi scheme. The report lists bank officers and assets, and notes fresh mackerel arrivals and new ships at Gloucester.

Prudential Trust to Pay Depositors in Full
Depositors of the Prudential Trust Company, closed yesterday by Bank Commissioner Joseph C. Allen, will be paid in full. The closure was due to steady withdrawal of deposits and bad and slow loans. The bank, located at 83 Summer Street, drew crowds but little excitement as it shut at 9:30 AM. George H. Carrick and others are named among key figures. William Bailey, former treasurer, had resigned months earlier. President McNamee also runs Bay State Insulated Wire & Cable and was twice Cambridge Mayor.
