First big cutting case for new Station 1 chief Hoffman

Daredevil Harbor Escape Averted by Duchesse Captain
The La Grande Duchesse narrowly avoided a collision with a racing yacht off Boston when Captain Hanlon swiftly steered away as the smaller craft tacked in front. James B. Eustis former ambassador to France and Louisiana senator died at his Newport summer home at 8 PM after pneumonia followed a brief illness. Saloon Row Leaves Two Wounded In Boston Amid Knife Fight
In a street brawl starting in front of a Fleet and Commercial street saloon, Bartholomew Ryan 27 of 218 Commercial and John Stewart 22 of Whitler's were wounded. Stewart has a severe abdominal cut and is not expected to live. Ryan bears a bad knife wound and is at City Hospital. Burton, seized by officers with a knife, is identified as the other assailant. Stewart remains in serious condition at Massachusetts General Hospital.
