Vermont Returns Show Strong Democratic Shakeup in 1878
Reports from Vermont counties indicate a significant Democratic gain, with Republicans losing ground since 1876. Towns like Franklin and Bennington show mixed results, while statewide totals project a Republican majority but thinner than before, and the next Legislature likely leans Republicans with scattered third-party support.
