Four of the United States oldest distilleries, known for New England rum from Eastport Maine to Africa, will shut down today. Congress bans manufacture and importation of distilled spirits for beverage use, effective at 11 o clock tonight.

John Kerwin testified Kenniston admitted choking the girl while Etta Hicks allegedly beat her with a club.
Woodbury Prescott, aged % years, collapsed on High street and died shortly after at Haymarket Square Relief Hospital. Police cannot learn his address. Heart disease reported as the cause of death.
Dudley Field Malone resigns as New York customs collector to President Wilson over the administration’s failure to back a federal suffrage amendment and his role in defending militants jailed for picketing the White House. He says he will work to redeem his pledge to suffrage states.
In quitting the office of collector of the port of New York, Mr. Malone leaves one of the best paid places in the government service. He is a son-in-law of former Senator O'Gorman. His letter of resignation follows.
