President Wilson Seeks End to Colorado Coal Strike

President Wilson urged employers and workers to adopt a tentative basis for adjusting the Colorado coal strike. The plan was drawn up by the Commission of Conciliation appointed by Secretary of Labor Wilson to mediate the dispute.

Wilson proposes three year truce in Colorado mine strike

President Wilson forwards a tentative basis for settlement to Colorado Fuel & Iron, Victor American, Rocky Mountain Fuel, and United Mine Workers officers. It calls for a three year truce under law, return of non convicted workers, no intimidation, wage and rule publication, a grievance committee, and a three member commission as final referee. No mine guards, troops withdrawn, and picketing stopped pending commission decision.

Ghent Arrests in 1892 Pittsburg Killings Linked to Chicago

Joseph Ghent, charged with killing his brother Frank Ghent in Pittsburg in September 1892, was found living in Chicago under aliases. Papers reveal he was indicted for manslaughter but never tried. He was arrested in Chicago after Pittsburg citizens identified him.
