The detachment led by Col Trull and the Eighth Regiment from Lynn joined, and Gen Sutton assumed command as the encampment began with guard mounting, drills, parades, and band concerts. The city contracted Baltimore’s Abner Greenleaf to supply a similar unit, to be delivered next February.
