A car crashed into a telegraph pole in West Roxbury, sending occupants plunging twenty feet and leaving seven injured. Rescue teams say the incident imperils the lives of the trapped travelers while firefighters stabilize the scene.
An electric car derailed on Beech Street near Ceata and Kenneth streets injuring multiple passengers including Miss Mary O Brien and Miss Pauline Danner. Several hundred residents faced danger as the car lurched toward a 20 foot drop before a telegraph pole halted the catastrophe.
A young white Roxbury resident and a colored man fought with Brookline police officer Henry Pinner near Boylston and Hammond streets after the man seized the officer's revolver. Four Brighton youths including Councilman Frank McKinney intervened as the auto sped away with the suspect, who escaped in the darkness. The woman identified as Miss Freeman shrieked nearby as the pursuit continued.
Boston streets resounded yesterday with the tramp of labor's hosts as 10,000 sturdy toilers marched in a grand review. Governors, mayors, and civic leaders greeted the procession while banners proclaimed the sacred principles of American workers. Citizens from Boston and surrounding cities joined the tribute. The report from Mukden says Kuropatkin’s forces are in retreat toward Harbin with Japanese troops within about 30 miles of Mukden. Oyama’s army crossed the Taitse River and presses the rear as Kuropatkin dispatches Rennekampff with a Cossack division to block the eastern highroad.
Boston and vicinity expect fair skies today with light north to east winds. Tuesday and Wednesday remain fair with similar light winds and mild conditions.
