Judge Leigh Seeks Homes for Randolph’s Freed Slaves
Judge Leigh, executor of John Randolph’s will, seeks a destination for four hundred freed slaves. They cannot be sent to Liberia or kept in Virginia. A $25,000 legacy accompanies them and they will be settled in a free state once a location is chosen.
