Mead Finds Germany United, Peace Advocate Reports

Noted British officer Brett cited for gallantry in war memory

Lieutenant-Colonel C. A. H. Brett, veteran of the Hazara expedition and the South African War, was mentioned in despatches for gallantry and awarded the Distinguished Service Order with three clasps. Born in 1863, he was the son of Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Brett of the Second Dragoon Guards.

Ulster Volunteers Recruit 700 Men in Ulster Facing Invader

Belfast dispatch reports 700 men of the North Belfast Regiment enrolled for foreign service within an hour of the Ulster volunteers recruiting office opening. Sir Edward Carson addressed the volunteers promising enough to deter invasion and pledging Ulster will stay a province until their return.
