Explosion Injures Paducah Captain’s Family and Sailors
A defective gasoline tank on the gunboat Paducah’s new surf boat exploded in the upper Piscataqua River near Portsmouth New Hampshire. Captain W W Gilmer his wife and mother in law and two seamen were seriously injured. A maid escaped harm as wreckage caused burns and bruises. Seamen C J Wood and W A Cooper saved Mrs Gilmer and her mother by diving overboard and keeping them afloat until help arrived.
