Veterans of G A R Parade in Detroit Encampment

About 2000 veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic, still 50 divisions strong, passed in review at Detroit’s national encampment. More than a quarter of a million spectators applauded as the old soldiers, masking faltering steps, marched down the main business thoroughfare. The parade line stretched a mile and a half.

Parade Honors Washington Gardner With Veteran Escort

The review proceeded without major incident though several heat prostrations occurred. About 50 people received medical aid at hospital tents and were expected to recover quickly. At 10 pm the parade moved along the avenue led by Sons of Veterans and Detroit Post 84 with Gardner as commander in chief.

Cramer Chosen Commander in Chief of Veterans Group

Major Col. Cramer of Columbus Ohio was elected commander-in-chief by a second ballot at the United Spanish War Veterans convention in Louisville. Scranton Pennsylvania was selected as the 1915 convention city. Officers elected include Cockey Salina Kansas and Denun gio Louisville Kentucky as senior and junior vice commanders with Lazansky in the Philippines and Brown in Hawaii as deputy commanders and Elliott Milwaukee as surgeon general. Thousands joined a late parade to end the encampment.

Public Bequests in Mrs Hill's Will

The will of Mrs Anna Frances Hill of 205 Bay State Road dated March 4 1903 leaves $2000 to the Boston City Missionary Society and to the Women's Home Missionary ration. Executors named are Hamilton Hill, her son, and Charles Theodore Carruth.

Funeral services for District Chief Joseph M Garrity who died at his home on Brook Street Brookline were held at the Church of the Assumption Brookline yesterday with Fire Commissioner Grady Chief Mc Donough and many others in attendance The note includes an aside about a comic in the next Sunday Post mentioning Pa Van Loon.

Trial Delay for Mrs Pearson in Fraud Case

Mrs Catherine A Pearson claiming to be the wife of a British lieutenant pleaded guilty in police court to defrauding the Hotels Lenox and Puritan. Police investigations focused on her identity while authorities also alleged theft of goods worth 17.10 dollars from a department store. Judge Burke continued the case to Friday. she was held in 1590 dollars bail.

German Socialists Fail to Stir Italy in War Effort

Senate approves Clayton anti trust bill passed by Senate

Washington Sept. 2 The Clayton anti trust bill to supplement the Sherman law and complete administration trust legislation for this session passed the Senate 46 to 16. Seven Republican senators Brady Clapp Cummins Kenyon Norris Jones Perkins and Poindexter voted for the measure.

Senate Amends Bill Sets Trade Commission Back To Conference

The Senate amended the anti trust bill in many particulars and will send it to conference where the FTC bill remains under consideration. Reports on both measures are hoped within two weeks. The bill imposes penalties for corporate officers, restricts exclusive and tying contracts, forbids interlocking directorates in large firms, and bars railroad directors from certain cross holdings. It also fixes penalties for violations, limits actions on court procedure in labor disputes, and notes President Wilson will delay naming Trade Commission members until harmonization with the Clayton bill is complete.

The Cunard liner Franconia sails from East Boston to Liverpool with a party of ten including six women. Passengers listed are Mrs. Henry Hooper, Mrs. Alice W.
