Auto kills child in Palmer. Hollander held on manslaughter charge
An automobile near Wenham and Boston struck 12 year old Dorothy Otis of Palmer just after she and her mother alighted from a trolley. Mrs Otis escaped. the child died from a base brain blow. The driver, Sumner R. Hollander, was taken into custody in Palmer on manslaughter charges with a Sept. 11 hearing scheduled. He is son of L P Hollander & Co. Boston.

Fire at Roxbury Lumber Yard Destroys 50 000 Feet of Lumber
A fire of incendiary origin destroyed the drying shed and about 50 000 feet of lumber at the Co W Leatherbee Lumber Company yard on Atkinson street Roxbury early today causing estimated losses of 25 000 to 30 000 dollars. Night watchman Oscar F Whitman discovered the blaze while he was at home after making his rounds and alerted the alarm while trying to save his family. Fireboat assistance was hampered by a mud channel in the bay delaying efforts for about thirty minutes.
