Webster Mill Wrecked in Fatal Slasher Room Blast

An explosion in the dressing room of S Slater Son woolen factory in Webster wounded and killed workers. Udric LaRoche, 26, a French Canadian, died crushed by flying metal. Julius Baum and two Polish women injured. Over 20 others lightly hurt as windows shattered. Cause of blast undetermined.

Wealthy gold shipment moved from Arabistan to federal vault

The treasure ship Arabistan delivered 2 725 000 in gold coins packed in 108 oak boxes to the sub treasury in the Federal building East Boston. Twelve bank clerks and inspectors oversaw the transfer guarded by police as they crossed the ferry to the old General Hancock.

Governor Guild Highlights Exposition Support and Property Savings

In a speech last night Governor Guild said he received a $100 check from the Springfield McKinley memorial fund and accepted it only after assurances of a surplus. He credited Fairbank with holding state property and saving the state storage and transportation costs, noting a detailed inventory with the Exposition Commission and stating the property will be used at the Jamestown exposition. He commended Fairbank for reducing state expenses.
