Boston Symphony Quartet Opens Season With Strong Ensemble
At Jordan Hall last evening the Boston Symphony Quartet presented a first concert of the season. The program included Schubert in A minor op. 29, Glazounoff novelettes, and Brahms Sextet in B flat major op. 18. The ensemble, with Willy Hess Otto Roth Emil Ferr and new cellist Heinrich Warnke, delivered notably refined playing despite the recent changes. The Schubert quartet shone, the Glazounoff pieces impressed with modern yet melodic craft, and the Brahms sextet, aided by J. Keller and Max Zach, was well received. The audience was large and appreciative. The second concert will be Monday evening Nov 27.
