Boston Journal notes B F Larrabee of B F Larrabee & Co succeeds Wm Hl Zinn, drawing on 23 years with Claflin Larrabee Co. as chief buyer and European contact. New firm aims to ship goods directly from manufacturers to consumers with a single small profit, predicting unmatched success in America.
Announcement invites the public to the grand opening of the improved and enlarged establishment today Monday October 31st. During opening week each of the thirty departments will offer special bargains so unusually tempting they will leave favorable remembrances of the new firm.

In a heated exchange over the seventh senatorial race, Hoxie alleges A C Ratshesky offered bribes totaling 250 to 2000 dollars through agents to drop out and shift Prohibitionist votes. Ratshesky denies all charges with affidavits from Coffin Dudley Perkins Blood and others. Hoxie vows a formal reply and says witnesses will support his claims.
New York reports national Republican leaders quietly challenge Grover Cleveland's voting eligibility for the upcoming election. They allege improper residence in West Fifty-first Street and note possible arrest if he attempts to cast a ballot on November 8.

A Sunday fire in St Johnsbury Vermont destroyed multiple business blocks and stores on Railroad Street leaving at least 150000 in losses. The Grist of Ward's Block and Griswold Pearl Co suffered total destruction while twelve to fifteen families were burned out in the block. No lives reported lost though several narrow escapes occurred. Lyndonville Barnet and Me. Indoes sent aid but was not needed. The blaze began near Lougee Bros Smythe dry goods store and raged for two hours amid northeast winds and oil-fed flames.
