Fire Sweeps St Johnsbury In Major Blaze

A Sunday fire in St Johnsbury Vermont destroyed multiple business blocks and stores on Railroad Street leaving at least 150000 in losses. The Grist of Ward's Block and Griswold Pearl Co suffered total destruction while twelve to fifteen families were burned out in the block. No lives reported lost though several narrow escapes occurred. Lyndonville Barnet and Me. Indoes sent aid but was not needed. The blaze began near Lougee Bros Smythe dry goods store and raged for two hours amid northeast winds and oil-fed flames.
