Anchorage
King Fisher Ashore off Coney Island in Heavy Seas
New York Oct 80 The fishing steamer King Fisher of Tiverton owned and commanded by James B Church is ashore about 100 feet west of the old iron pier at Coney Island. The vessel is full of water and likely to break up in a heavy wind. At sunset Sunday the ship anchored east of the bell buoy and amid the tide she fouled its anchor chain and was driven broadside to the beach. Capt Church attempted to float her using boats, spare anchors, and engine starts while a swamp-boat net fouled the screw.
