Marlboro Meeting Opposes Gattabue Patent Claims
A large Marlboro assembly at the Town Hall ably discussed resisting royalty demands under the Gattabue patent for shoe pegging machines. J E Curtis chaired and urged tax measures, with H Howe presenting the manufacturers’ view, noting Sturtevant’s 1855 design and the alleged infringement. Local leather interests and others backed resistance, adopting resolutions to push Congress to curb patent rings and safeguard recent laws.
