Boutwell's Policy Unclear On Bond Purchases Next Month
The article notes no firm stance yet on whether Secretary Boutwell will continue bond purchases and gold sales in the same proportion next month, though it is believed he will direct ongoing operations until Congress meets. It also covers Internal Revenue receipts for the month, and a major Fulton Street fire at the Old North Dutch Church damaging Nos. 114 and 116 with heavy losses.
