Five Survivors Rescued From Florida Keys Wreckage

Six men clung to two timbers after a hurricane wrecked houseboat No 4 off the Florida coast on Oct 18. One man, driven mad, leaped to the sea, leaving five survivors Frank Revely Gus Johnson Ben Clarke Abner Bell and John Campbell. They were rescued by the British steamer Heatherpool capt John Grieves on Oct 19 and landed at Norfolk.

Despondent man ends life with toy cannon blast

Joseph H. Gifford, 28, a wealthy contractor with a wife and three children, died at his 306 Belmont Street home when a loaded toy cannon exploded after ignition. Flames engulfed his clothing as relatives extinguished the fire. His family cited long illness and past mental trouble as factors.
