Suppressed Address Delays as Temperance Republicans Split
A subcommittee of Temperance Republicans failed to sign and publish a rough draft address. Ex-Mayor Johnson, Rev D C Mears, ex-mayors Hil Fosdick and Johnson, Senator Ladd, and others debated adding Faxon’s resolution, but none signed. The final draft, readied by Johnson and Gould, remains unsigned as divisions over Capen and Brackett persist and the document may not be issued.
