New England states pledge to raise their quota of 500 million as patriotic fervor grows. The region surpassed its 300 million minimum yesterday and momentum continues through the final three days of the campaign.
A northeasterly gale battered the New England coast centering on the metropolitan district. The storm produced 60 mile per hour winds, caused two deaths, widespread property damage, paralyzed shipping, delayed streetcar and rail traffic, and knocked out communications as trees fell and lights failed.

Proxies represented 1,169,277 shares at an annual meeting where directors were re-elected by about 1,215,767 votes.
