MINEOLA N Y Oct 21 Celia Coleman colored maid and State witness testified that Mrs Florence Carman appeared with a revolver after Mrs Louise Bailey was shot and said I shot him Celia recounted the next morning Carman asked What did I kill that woman for and promised to take care of her boy if Celia stood by The testimony described a dramatic scene and cross examination in the case alleging Mrs Carman killed Mrs Bailey at the Carman home in Freeport.

At Harvard the corporation accepted professor Hugo Munsterberg’s withdrawal of his resignation made after a demand by Major Clarence Wiener to cut the university off with a $10,000,000 ultimatum. The psychologist remains affiliated with Harvard following the withdrawal.

Resignation row at Harvard ends with denial

Professor Munsterberg claims he sent in his resignation which the Harvard corporation refused to accept. The $10,000,000 pension scare arose after Wiener threatened to withdraw support if Munsterberg remained. Munsterberg had offered to leave, leaving Harvard to decide between Wiener and him.

Crawford House Head Is Missing

C Milford Rimbach proprietor of the Crawford House is missing and his whereabouts are unknown to his confidential employees at the hotel. His wife and family are also believed unaware of his location. Creditors have called a meeting at the hotel this afternoon to discuss the financial trouble believed caused by his absence. A member of Joseph Gahm & Son bottlers says the Gahm company is the largest creditor and liabilities are substantial.

Agreement Reached on War Revenue Measure

Washington Oct 21 Senate and House conferees agreed on the war revenue bill after a late notional effort, sacrificing 15 to 20 million dollars in revenue. They eliminated liquor tax amendments, rejecting increases on beer from 1.50 to 1.75 per barrel and a 5 cent per gallon tax on rectified spirits.

Racer crash on Weston road injures two men

Clark and Derbyshire were racing in a large white automobile when their car failed to negotiate a turn and struck a tree. Clark suffered a broken leg and arm with internal injuries while Derbyshire had minor cuts and bruises. Both were transported to Newton City Hospital after the vehicle burned.
