Amended circular boosts bounty for veteran volunteers
Washington October 20 An amended circular from the Provost Marshal General offers veterans who volunteer a bounty and premium totaling 402 dollars, while non veterans receive 300 dollars. The program targets old organizations to encourage volunteering since drafted men get 100 dollars. Enlisted men may choose their regiment, limited to existing regiments in the field.
