Box 25 alarm at 9:30 yesterday morning traced to kerosene lamp explosion in the cellar of I. M. Linscott stationery dealer at Broadway and Third streets, with damage $50.
On October 19 fires burned a Cape Elizabeth house owned by Albert Stephenson and occupied by John Heard, insured for 4500. Orlando Tozier’s farm buildings two miles south burned, with losses of 1500 and insurance 650. Dennis Hare’s house and outbuildings in Tromaston destroyed, losses 2000 and insurance 1100. Oelwein business houses burned valued at 40000 with unknown insurance. A fire in Walraam damaged Mrs. Rufus Stickney’s house and contents, with 800 building loss and 75 furniture loss, insured none for Sylvester and Sanger households.
A package exploded last evening at the Adams Express office injuring Henry T. Sawyer and shattering office glass. The explosive type and intended recipient remain unknown.
Paris correspondent reports late M. Katkoff as intermediary between General Boulanger and Russian and German officials. Katkoff allegedly urged war push while Bogdanovich linked, Schweinitz intercepted a letter sent to Emperor William I who condemned Katkoff, leading to his disgrace and death.
Loxpow October 10 reports no renewed demonstrations by unemployed workers in Trafalgar Square, with only the usual crowd present. In Hyde Park thousands gathered, signaling continued unrest in the streets and public spaces of the city.

The Rev. Dr. Heman Lincoln aged died at his Newton home Tuesday after pneumonia. Born in Boston April 14 1821 he studied at Latin school Brown University Newton Theological Institution and served as pastor in several cities before joining the Newton Theological Institution as a professor of ecclesiastical history. He edited the Christian Chronicle and Watchman and Reflector. He leaves a widow and daughter Mrs A G Langley of Newport R I and two brothers Professor John Lincoln and Joshua Lincoln.
The Rev Hezekiah A Spencer of Milford died Tuesday from typhoid fever aged 38 or 39. A Cape Breton native and Newton Theological Seminary graduate he came to Milford in 1882 and leaves a widow and three infant children. Also reported: Lucius C Chase of Boston died Tuesday at 7 Bowdoin Square after a brief heart illness. He led the family business for 30 years and retired in January, a pioneer in horse blankets and plushes and involved with trotting and running horses. He leaves a widow. Miss Phebe Harrod of Newburyport died last night after a brief illness. She was born August 28 1786 and was among the long-lived members of the First Presbyterian Church since 1815. George A Hammond of Chelsea died yesterday morning at his residence 8 Howell Court after a disease complication. He served in the Fifth Regiment MVM during the war and later in the U S Navy. He was about 60 years of age.
Chicago officials report Nimick of Pittsburgh offering 15000 for Anson the Chicago captain and first baseman. Spalding of Chicago counters with 25000. Nimick also seeks to move Detroit, but locals doubt success.
