District Attorney Moran responds to charges from opponent Joseph A. Dennison. Moran admits borrowing money from Lawson but asserts the funds were not used for campaign purposes. Moran filed his formal answer last night in the re election dispute.
Oct 18 report shows Mercantile National Bank troubles triggering a market crisis. Stocks tumbled, banks recalled loans, brokers dumped securities, and many famed financiers faced solvency questions as the Heinze United Copper corner sparked widespread distress.

Clara Gilbertini six year old daughter of Antone Gilbertini of West Street died this morning from lockjaw following vaccination. Dr. W F Fryer reports unclean matter likely entered the wound.
After five days of probing into the milk case and allegations that some fire department members bought promotions through politicians, the grand jury adjourned without reporting. One secret indictment was returned, but it concerns a routine case only.

The Carnegie Hero Commission held its fall meeting in Pittsburgh area city and awarded 24 bravery honors led by Greater Boston. John B. Hill of Atlanta received a bronze medal and 5600. Caroline Stanton of Mt. Vernon received a silver and 500. Andrew Hodger of Santa Fe Kansas earned a gold medal and 5600 for rescuing others. Two men, Joseph Kling and William Nunn, were trapped by a cave-in during the incident.
