Gordon-Woods Century Set For Sunday Start From Copley Square

An early start and a moonlit return mark the Gordon-Woods century race from Copley square. The Hudson Cycle Club backs a third bid for victory as the annual union run is slated for next Sunday, with Flirt and Early Dawn preparations underway. The 20 footer Flirt, measured by George F. Lawley yesterday, rested over two weeks at Manchester before arriving at Lawley’s. Early Dawn will be measured tomorrow, with Flirt to be remeasured. The opener races Saturday at noon feature Naehant against the Winthrop bar buoy, four miles to weather, then two miles to mark, then back to the stake beat and start. Time Hutt stands at three and a quarter hours. Betting is light, with Flirt the favorite and few believing Early Ban has a chance.
