Echooner General Sheridan Crew Rescued After Shore Landing

Highland Light Oct 17 The schooner Echooner General Sheridan captained by Anderson ran ashore in a heavy west wind south of Highland Light. Life savers rescued the entire crew despite rough seas. The vessel began to break up at dawn as rescue efforts continued.

Tried Death then Repented by Slashing His Throat

Patrick L. Farrell slashed his throat with a razor yesterday after being deserted by a woman known as his wife. He repented as blood flowed and later called for water, but survived after hospital examination. Landlady Mrs. Samuel Stocks alerted police and Farrell was taken to City Hospital where doctors found the wound not life threatening.

Four Year Sentence For Forged Mileage Tickets

Fred M. White was sentenced to four years at the House of Correction by Judge Stevens in the Superior Criminal Court after pleading guilty to forging Boston and Maine railroad mileage tickets. William S. Close also pleaded guilty but is serving a six year term in Lawrence. his case was placed on file. Close had procured a number of covers of genuine mileage books.

Clancy Nominated for Sixth Suffolk Senate Seat

James B. Clancy of Ward 13 was nominated at 2:35 this morning on the 181st ballot for the Sixth Suffolk Senate district. He secured 31 votes, 4 above the required majority, aided by a 12 vote swing from Ward 15 Kelly. The nomination became unanimous on M. J. Sullivan of Ward 14’s motion after a delay caused by the ante room presence of the Ward 14 delegation.
