Henriksen batting for Beden saves the game in the seventh with a two bagger tying the score. Hooper made a key catch. In the 10th inning Gardner drove in the winning run as Yerkes scored on Devore’s throw. Speaker and Engle sparked a late rally to force extra frames. The Giants led in the seventh before Boston tied and then won in extras.
Springfield D October 16 After a preliminary secret investigation the county prosecutor and coroner caused the body of Mrs Florence Cavileer Smith to be exhumed for traces of poison. Mrs Smith wife of Dr Arthur S Smith a prominent Springfield physician died March 18 last in apparently good health. Three weeks ago Dr Smith married Miss Mabel Clare Merchant at Newton Highlands Massachusetts.
Three Columbus physicians assisted by Prosecutor Laybourn and Coroner Howard Austin oversaw exhumation of Mrs. Smith's body. Preliminary aim is to determine if organic illness caused death or if poisoning was involved amid public rumors. Dr. Smith, wealthy Springfield figure, and his first wife were prominent in local society.
Silvia Rubinovitz a 15 year old Russian girl who arrived four months ago leaped to death from a fourth story window at 42 Lynde street West End. Officials say homesickness may have driven the act.
Relatives say Silvia, daughter of a Russia-born uncle’s wife, became despondent after coming to America with no parents. She read Tolstoi in her native tongue and told aunt she felt a burden. She moved from New York to live with Mrs Ressie Monison two months ago and kept up as a keen pupil at school before returning home.
Chicago report states Colonel Theodore Roosevelt’s chest wound is healing normally without infection after Monday’s Milwaukee shooting. The bullet fractured his fourth rib and remains embedded in bone. doctors note no complications and that treatment will proceed without intervention to remove the fragment.

In New York on Oct 16 police Lt Charles Becker is accused of instigating the murder of gambler Herman Rosenthal. Witness James Hallen quotes Becker saying the public would give him a pension for killing the crook. Mrs Rosenthal testifies Becker threatened “It is either Herman or me” during a raid on Rosenthal’s gambling house.
Nat Goodwin the actor now infirm was sued for 20000 by C N Doughty a real estate broker in San Diego charges the elder Goodwin and Nat with alienating his wife’s affections. Both Goodwins are watching the world series as Mrs Goodwin plans to join soon.
Boston fans prepare a public demonstration for the Red Sox at Faneuil Hall at 1 pm after yesterday's victory. Mayor Fitzgerald arranged a band and the parade from Fenway Park to downtown, with speeches by city and state officials and prominent fans.
