The Prankfurter Zeitung reports General Fernandez captured President Marroquin of Colombia and declared himself dictator. Marroquin seized the office July 31, 1900 after deposing San Clemente. a 1901 conspiracy against Marroquin involved war minister and conservatives, which failed and led to arrests. Fernandez, formerly minister of war, was appointed in February 1902.

Robbery Attempt Near Hanover Street Station
Real estate dealer Gamuel D. Jenness claims he was robbed near Hanover Street station late last evening. He and Ernest Beidenbach suffered injuries as four to five men blocked their route. John A Dillon Dies After Accident at Pulitzers
BAR HARBOR Me Oct 15 John A Dillon journalist and leading editorial writer for the New York Evening World died at Chatwold the summer home of Joseph Pulitzer tonight. He had been injured five weeks earlier when thrown from a mount during a ride with Mr Pulitzer. Pneumonia and heart failure followed extensive injuries and a long convalescence. Pulitzers bedside visits and Dillon’s family were present. The body will be taken to New York tomorrow.
