Limited transport hinders Lee as Union forces advance

General Lee could only keep eight miles behind General Rosecrans due to poor roads and scarce transport. Meanwhile, a total of seventy-three prisoners reached Norfolk under strong guard, including fifty from the Fanny and twenty-three from Chickamauga, all orderly and submissive on arrival.
