Abraham Lincoln School to Rise in Boston’s West End

A new Abraham Lincoln school will outsize all local elementary and grammar schools. Set on a large block bordered by Ferdinand Fayette and Melrose streets, the four story steel structure with sandstone trim will cost 499000, house 1832 pupils, and be nearly fireproof with wood only in select areas. Architect A W Longfellow leads the plan featuring 40 classrooms, 12 rooms seating 650 and 28 rooms seating 44 each, spanning 152 feet on Fayette Melrose and 1282 feet on Ferdinand street.
