A British guest farewell banquet preceded a late morning fire alarm at a large abattoir. Early reports say two alarms were triggered and at 2 o'clock fears grew that at least one building could be destroyed. The fire was discovered in the oil area.
Leonard and Bird workers escaped as flames gutted their updated building at No 17 in the plant. Ambrose Grant, 24, from Ottawa Street, shot himself at South Station ahead of a planned Dorchester wedding to Nellie Sullivan, 26. He survived. doctors said the wound was not life threatening.

George N. Talbot refuses to tear down portions of his Harvard street buildings to allow widening from School street to Harvard square per town meeting vote. A contractor began removing obstructing structures, prompting Talbot to seek court redress after the clash.

Miss Blanche May Stanley daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis E Stanley and Mr Edward M Hallet son of Mrs William H Hallet of Newton were married at Channing Church. About 500 guests attended. The bride wore formal attendants and gifts included the deed to a house at 1684 Centre street.
