The Canadian destroyer Patriot tows the champion fishing schooner Bluenose into Gloucester after a rough voyage from Sable Island. Bluenose survived the voyage with only minor damage and is expected to arrive the next morning, according to naval dispatches from Gloucester Harbor.
Frank J. Gilespie of Dorchester 30 was arrested and booked at Fields Corner on charges of driving to endanger pedestrians after his car struck the Granite avenue drawbridge. Reginald S. Ruggles of Dorchester who rode in the car disappeared after the collision, and police had dragged the Neponset river searching for him.
Federal agents seized the Old Foster Estate at 315 Riverside Avenue Medford after a raid on a large moonshine operation. The still capacity reached 600 gallons with two 150 gallon stills and 7 gallon tandem units plus 6000 gallons of mash.
