Perkins Institute Meeting Reports Finances and Growth
The Perkins Institute for the Blind held its annual meeting in South Boston with Hon. Stephen Fairbanks presiding. Dr S G Howe presented a treasurer report showing nine months receipts of 25053 87 and expenditures 21435 64, leaving 361 23 cash. Trustees report steady property values totaling 44387 18 and personal estate worth 18236. The nine month period saw 114 patients with 15 added and 15 discharged, 89 residents in the household, 25 in the work department. No deaths and one severe sickness. Officers were re-elected: President Edward Brooks, Vice Presidents Stephen Fairbanks, Treasurer Thomas B Wales, Secretary Samuel G Howe, Trustees Cary Chandler Emerson May Perkins Russell Sturgis.
