The Conveyancers offer the simplest policies with cash resources nearly double those of rivals. They cover fraud forgeries and mistakes of fact law or record. Low rates, no risk out of state. The notice lists sermons by Rev. George Harris in Andover and Rev. Lt. London and Lancashire Fire Insurance Company has purchased the Pacific Coast business of the San Francisco Anglo-Nevada Assurance Corporation. The deal was announced from London on October 12.
On October 12 the Socialist congress opened with Ilerr Liebknecht presiding and welcoming delegates. Herren Singer and Dietz were elected presidents, eight secretaries chosen, and 366 delegates attended from Germany, Britain, France, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, and Belgium. The hall proved insufficient and crowding impeded business. A later Socialist workmen's congress opened with 212 associations represented, largelyMarax followers, including English delegates.
The congress adopted resolutions rejoicing over past successes congratulating German Socialists on the expiration of the anti Socialistic law expressing sympathy with French and Australian strikers and declaring support for an international demonstration by workers on May Day and for an international miners strike at the earliest possible moment. Two delegates were appointed to the Socialist congress at Halle and the next congress will meet at Lyons.
In Florence Signor Cavalotti urged that Italy would be stronger if it withdrew from the Dreibund alliance. The Radical party leader spoke at a banquet and pushed the policy shift amid European tensions.
In Huntindown Indiana on October 12 an engine attached to a Chicago and Erie freight exploded two miles west of town. Engineer Edward Murphy crawled along the track with a lantern to signal an oncoming vestibule train, saving lives while suffering a broken leg. Fireman George Kirby was badly burned and likely to survive only with difficulty.
Indianapolis report: Wright Parks, fearing a burglar, fired through a door and killed his own daughter who cried out. The bullet pierced her spine, prognosis poor. In New Jersey Mrs. Sarah Atwater died after her son-in-law Haven mistook a figure in the parlor for a burglar, firing and killing her by accident.
The meteorological observatory at Wests Agricultural College receives a $600 delicate instrument to measure atmospheric electric potential. Ordered by Professor Charles D. Warner and built by Elliott Bros. of London, it uses a Thompson electrometer a water dripping apparatus and a mirror reflecting light onto sensitized paper. It is the only such instrument in the United States.
New York Oct 12 The Anchor line steamer City of Rome ran upon Robbins Reef in harbor at 10 30 this morning while avoiding canal boats. It was freed at 4 PM and towed to its North River dock. No serious damage expected after inspection planned for morning. The vessel carried 66 passengers including 217 first cabin aboard. all were removed by transfer boats.
Army orders grant four months leave to First Lieutenant William L. Buck effective November 1. Major George W. McKee moves from Allegheny Arsenal to command Frankfort arsenal in Philadelphia. Hospital Steward Charles H. Swan discharged. Post Quartermaster Sergeant John T. Methermott ordered to Fort Warren. Naval cadets Ruhm Taylor Radford and Davis detached to Enterprise. H. W. Spangler resigns as Passed Assistant Engineer effective October 11, 1891 with leave to that date.
Washington dispatch reports Justice Miller's condition deteriorating through the day. Physicians say he has been dying all day with comatose state and labored breathing as the October Supreme Court term nears, with many officials visiting and ex-President Cleveland sending condolences.
President Harrison arrives in Indianapolis and visits his old First Presbyterian Church with Secretary Tracy and the McKee family. He attends a baptism and communion, greets friends, then travels to the Denison for dinner before departing by train at 6 am. In St Louis he is greeted by a salute, reviews a parade, is welcomed by Governor Francis and Mayor Noonan, and tours the fair grounds with a luncheon at the Jockey Club.
Yale reports receipts of 123,0269 and expenditures of 896,802 leaving a net balance of 383.67 after a 2,500 contribution to Yale Field Corporation. Cornelia V E Miller and Priscilla Field, wives of James H Field & Co of London, were arrested in New York on October 12 for receiving stolen funds totaling about 150000 dollars. Extradition warrants were issued while counsel sought habeas corpus relief. the case ties to a London bankrupted firm with liabilities around 500000 dollars and drafts from Brown Bros & Co of London.
Thomas P. Gill, member of Parliament and strong Parnell supporter, traveled on the steamer Alaska arriving in New York. He plans to arrange for the reception and tour of Dillon and O Brien. Gill said charges and delayed trial were to hinder their U S visit, prompting their decision to sail to Havre and then to New York.

Mary Auchmuty Tucker niece of Colonel Auchmuty of New York and Lenox wed Francis Julian Synge of London in Trinity Church Lenox on October 11. Prominent guests from New York Boston Salem Newport and New Hamburg attended. The ceremony featured a marble aisle bridal procession pink crepe bridesmaids and a breakfast at Colonel Auchmuty’s cottage.
Joseph Hillson of Boston and Miss Sylphia Youngerman of Somerville were married yesterday at Beth-Israel Church with Rev. Dr. Victor Rosenstein officiating. The cream satin silk bride wore Spanish lace and orange blossoms. An evening banquet and dancing followed in Eberle Hill Somerville with over 150 couples attending. The couple reside at 38 Columbus Avenue Somerville.
