Fatal fall kills teamster in Lowell and body found in Beverly
A teamster named Isaac Cartwell died Thursday after falling from his team in Lowell. A headless, mutilated body was found near Friend's crossing in Beverly on the Eastern railroad, with a Grand Army letter to Joseph Chipman and a grocery bill nearby, leading to the supposition the victim was Mr. Chipman. Also reported, the Home National bank purchased the Ruel Richmond estate on Main and Church streets in Brockton in a major real estate transaction, planning a banking building next spring. the lot measures about 125 by 100 feet and the price is reported around $30,000.

The Skowhegan trial of Eugene Hurd proceeded with defence evidence arguing self defense amid provocation.
