A morning fire at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Sixth Street South Boston gutted a 2 12 story wooden building, killing six horses and damaging the Brainard estate plus a three-story tenement. Firemen struggled to draw water, with a barn and other structures burning as residents evacuated in fear. One horse-drawn carriage later caused injuries at a rail crossing. Investigators will probe causes.
