Tufts College faces growth with new dorms and endowment needs

The Tufts College board met with President Capen reporting 142 students in the college, 27 degrees granted, and growing demand across arts, divinity, and science. A new west of gym dormitory for 24, fireproof library extension, and lecture halls are under way. Calls for a large endowment, especially for the divinity and scientific schools, dominate urge for permanent facilities and funded faculty expansion.

The Fragment Society Annual Meeting At Mrs Rust Home

The Fragment Society held its annual meeting at 805 Beacon Street yesterday morning with many members in attendance. Mrs. Whittemore presided. Rev. Horton gave the opening prayer and praised the society’s work. Reports showed 1652 garments and 121 pairs of footwear distributed to 400 recipients, with expenses totaling 1055 dollars. A board of officers was elected, including President Mrs. Charles A. Whittemore, Vice President Mrs. William T. Glidden, Secretary Mrs. Charles Van Brunt, and Treasurer Miss Martha Parsons, along with several managers and committee members.

Ministers Day Reports Cooperate With Methodists For Evangelical Work

Clergymen from Congregationalist and other denominations meet to discuss uniting with Methodists for directing evangelistic efforts by Rev. Jones and Rev. Small in Boston starting Jan 1. The report favors cooperation but cautions local action. Bijou Theatre estate leased to Colonel Whipple for 23 years

The Bijou Theatre estate will be leased to Colonel J. R. Whipple for twenty three years at 340000 a year. A first class hotel will be built on the land with a carriage approach from Mason street. The building will be elegant and grand in proportion. Final arrangements confirm the use of the property by Colonel Whipple.

American Christian Conference elects officers for quadrennial session
