Washington Oct 10 A deadlock in the 15 member steering committee of the National Industrial Conference delayed adjournment until Tuesday. The panel will meet separately to draft a report for the conference’s return while labor pushes for arbitration and employers press the open shop principle.
Maynard delays hours in Maynard Delaware as the bridal journey faces radiator breakdown. He pushes on to outpace Captain Smith, who is 650 miles from New York. Two other western fliers reach Smith at Bryan Ohio while Parson Maynard remains the favorite.
Boston policemen in a union resolution denounce the Boston Chamber of Commerce for offering positions to end the strike. They accuse the chamber of hypocrisy and double crossing and say governor should be held responsible for the dispute.

In North Buxton Maine a family tragedy unfolds as Pearl seven Frank five Burnice three die in the parlor from a mysterious disease. Their two year-old sister Laura and father Preston Pennell are gravely ill in a upstairs room while the mother and an infant survive. Doctors cannot identify the ailment.
At 11 tomorrow a triple funeral will be held in the Pennell homestead front yard with burial in North Buxton cemetery. The doctor says Laura likely will not survive the night. Burnice Nattie and Frank have died this week. The father is ill and the wife cared for the family with neighbors helping.
At Braves Field Massachusetts American Legion staged a vivid Bay State wartime pageant before about 5000 spectators. Two men were injured including sergeant Hercules Korgis nicknamed one man army during a Bay State reenactment featuring 700 troops storming Belleau Wood.
The Press Association reports that a rumor of Gabriele D Annunzio’s assassination is untrue but the Fiume situation is serious. Italian forces refuse to obey orders to expel D Annunzio's troops from the city.

House defeats Igoe motion 215 to 3 and wets call the measure un American in protests over conference concessions.
King Alfonso will depart Madrid for Paris and London on October 18 or 19 under the title Duke of Toledo. The Queen will not accompany him.
