Tragedy in Somerville Husband shoots wife then wounds himself
Winfield Scott Walker of Somerville tried to kill his wife last evening at 9 pm in her Orchard street home, firing two shots into her head after being admitted by a resident. He then shot himself in the head and, bleeding, was found by officers at the scene. The wife, 36, lives at 45 Florence street with two daughters and recently inherited $20,000. Walker, 36, had returned to Somerville in February after a stint in San Francisco and had visited the house repeatedly, seeking a private talk. The wife remains in critical condition with serious injuries including a bullet lodged in her mouth and another entry near her left eye. Walker was taken to Central station and confessed his stated intention to kill his wife.
