Woman Attempts Suicide by Gas in Despairing Act

Mrs Francis Kenney 24 made a planned gas attack to end her life in a fourth floor room at 74 Waltham Street. Her husband, upon hearing the alarm, crawled along a window ledge and broke the pane to rescue her, saving her life temporarily as she lay on the bed unconscious. She later revived and remarked she would try again. Despondency and ill health blamed for the act.

Parrot's Cry Saves Two Men From Fire in 16 Blossom Place

At 2 20 AM a parrot screeched fire warning from the top floor of a three story wooden house at 16 Blossom place. Joshua Roberts and James Beers escaped dense smoke via a narrow staircase before flames confined to the top floor. Polly the parrot died, and a street accident damaged a plate glass window at 168 Cambridge street.

Patrolman Breaks Hand Chasing Excluded Student

Patrolman Gavin of the North End station broke his left hand during a chase last night but captured the suspect Antonio Marks aged 18 of Salutation Street. Marks had been expelled from North Bennett Street night school and taunted students by greeting them as officers arrived, prompting police action.

Bold copper thieves tried to strip decorative copper from St Augustine's chapel on Dorchester street last night. A vigilant neighbor spotted them cutting near the eaves, prompting a hurried police and fire response as the suspects fled. A man leaped from a rain trough to the street, escaping with others believed to vanish into Dexter street side as a large crowd formed and a rooftop search continued into midnight.

Robbery at Noor of Home on Oxford Terrace

East Boston Father Charged With Assault on Daughter

John A. Hoyle of 494 Sumner Street East Boston was arrested after allegedly brutal assault on his nine year old daughter Frances May. The incident occurred last Sunday night when Hoyle reportedly struck the child tearing out four front teeth and cutting her chin. The mother sought help and Judge Emmons issued a warrant for Hoyle.

Judge Dewey Frees Ex Alderman in Drunkenness Ruling

Ex Alderman Michael W. Brick was discharged by Judge Dewey after a 20 minute ruling defining drunkenness.
