Wisconsin Banker Hirl ed and Vaults Plundered

A daring murder and bank robbery occurred in Waupaca Wisconsin as H C Mead a wealthy 60 year old bachelor banker sleeping in the bank was found shot and mutilated. The bank safe was unlocked and robbers made off with several thousand dollars in currency gold and bonds. No clue to the murderers.

Providence officials warned of Georgia ville dam weakness eight miles above the city. Supreme court ordered Bernon to withdraw water by opening gates and keep them open until further orders. The 40 foot deep pond can lose only nine feet. dam failure could devastate a large portion of Providence.

Comstock raids Long Island City pool rooms net $15,000 value

Anthony Comstock and officers raided Kelly & Bliss, John White & Co., Curry & Johnson, and Lovell & Co. pool rooms in Long Island City. Three people were arrested and warrants issued for 22 more as roughly $15,000 worth of paraphernalia was seized.

Lynn Assault With a Knife at Cassidy Saloon

Patrick Hanley of Church Street caused a disturbance at Owen Cassidy’s saloon at Washington Street and Railroad Avenue. After being allowed to rise, he returned with a knife, but Cassidy dodged and fled. Hanley dropped the weapon on Washington Street and was arrested by Officers Hail and Croscup.
