Steamship Teutonia repairs and harbor incidents reported

Early Saturday Bruce McLean piloted the Dutch steamer Teutonia bound for Rotterdam, then returned to port for repairs after a loose coupling bolt issue. The ship faced boisterous seas 100 miles east of Boston Light, refused tugs to avoid salvage claims, and is slated for repairs at East Boston near Bertelsen & Petersen. The fishing fleet suffered spills: Columbia sank on Shag Rocks, Viking towed in, and several schooners faced heavy seas with rigging damage. The report also notes other vessels: Rebecca Palmer, Edith Olcott, the Erskine M. Phelps voyage, and traffic involving the Saxonia and Azalea.
